Welcome to our September series for those of you just embarking on your journey to becoming professional makeup artists.

Over the years we have established a great rapport with some of the best selling makeup and special FX brands in the industry, and today we want to share with you part two of our essential must-have items for your professional makeup starter kit.

 

Kohl Pencils 

Every serious makeup artist isn’t equipped without a good kohl pencil. A simple product that can make a big impact, you want to find yourself a highly pigmented pencil that won’t smudge easily and can be applied with no faff. Whether you are creating dramatic winged eyeliner or using it to draw out a bold lip, kohl pencils are incredibly versatile.

Lip Pencils

Lip pencils are overlooked as a whole by many makeup lovers as something a little out-dated, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. A good lip liner will define the lips, make your lip colour pop and keeps everything in place for longer. Check out our favourites for your professional makeup kit!

Eyebrow Palette 

Over recent years the brow game has become more important than most other aspects of a makeup look! With everyone striving for the perfect brow, no makeup artist is complete without a go-to brow palette that will help define those arches and bring definition to the face.

Eyeshadow Palette

Applying Eyeshadow is one of the most exciting aspects of creating any makeup look; every day can be a different creation! Whether it’s a sultry smokey eye or a pop of vibrant colour, having a variety of shades will get you off to a great start.

Brushes 

An obvious essential for any professional, makeup brushes are necessary for accuracy and high quality application. Whether its eyes, lips or face, a great brush can really step up your makeup game.

The prices vary depending on the brushes, but as a rule the MODA range are fantastic quality and affordable.

Other Great Brands:Royal & Langnickel actually offer other ranges of makeup brushes, which are even more affordable if you are looking for a bargain purchase. Their Majestic range is great value for money especially.

 

Primer 

To set a flawless base for your makeup, a good quality primer will smooth out the skin ready for easy foundation application. Worn under makeup or on its own, primer can create a dewy glow or a matte landscape and is an ideal first step in any makeup routine.

Concealer Palette 

A favourite for hiding a multitude of sins, a good concealer will offer a discreet cover-up option for those days where the dark circles under your eyes are out on full force. Whether it’s a few blemishes or just one of those days where you want a full coverage look, concealer is a real must-have product.

Other Great Brands:For other high-end options Kryolan have a wonderful set of concealer wheels offering six shades in a lightweight creamy consistency. For a more affordable option Stargazer do a 12-shade concealer pallete that has good coverage and is real value for money!

 

Corrector Wheel 

Everyone’s skin is different, and as a makeup artist you are likely to be exposed to all kinds of skin tones during your working life. Colour correcting wheels are a fantastic way to reduce redness or hide away yellow tones to create a great base for makeup.
